Homozygotes for targeted mutations exhibit impaired axonal migration, abnormal semicircular canals, lack of corpus callosum, aberrant commissures, optic nerve hypoplasia, motor and balance defects, failure to suckle, and neonatal death. Embryos homozygous for a null allele show bilateral coloboma and cleft secondary palate.
