Mice homozygous for a null allele show frequent splenomegaly, extramedullary hematopoiesis, impaired neutrophil chemotaxis, misoriented hyperproduction of superoxide anions and increased susceptibility to fungal infection. Homozygotes for a gene trap allele have reduced marginal zone B cell numbers.
