Notes
Susceptibility to Leishmania major in BALB/c mice has been ablated by introduction of a null mutant of the Il4 gene (J:35236), but in that study the introduced mutant came from a strain 129 background, and 129 is resistant to L. major infection. In mice carrying one of Noben-Trauth's null mutants, targeted in BALB/c embryonic stem cells, the loss of Il4 expression did not remove susceptibility to infection (J:31486).
