Knock-out mice show impaired stress responses, enhanced anxiety, and affiliative behavior. Norepinephrine and serotonin levels are decreased in the locus ceruleus, prefrontal cortex, and amygdala and MAO-A enzyme activity is enhanced in the locus ceruleus.
