Mice homozygous for a knockout allele exhibit postnatal death associated with aerophagia, slow postnatal weight gain, cyanosis, and abnormal tracheal morphology. Mice homozygous for a different knock-out allele exhibit proteinuria and intracellular endosomal vesicles in PTE cells.
