Mice homozygous for a null allele are viable, fertile, and show normal mammary gland development and no spontaneous mammary tumors. However, in an oncogene-driven breast cancer mouse model, mice show increased mammary hyperplasia and tumor growth paradoxically associated with reduced lung metastases.
