Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:76427
Parent Cell Line:  Not Specified (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  Not Specified
Mutation
description
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion

Mutation detailsExon 2 of this gene was replaced with a neomycin cassette via homologous recombination. Northern and Western blot analysis confirmed lack of gene expression in homozygous mutant embryonic stem (ES) cells. (J:76427)

Notes
Injection of homozygous ES cells into nude mice results in tumors that have reduced formation of large vessels and that have hypoxic microenvironments, however growth of tumors is not retarded but accelerated due to decreased hypoxia-induced apoptosis and increased stress-induced proliferation. Additionally, hypoxic and hypoglycemic conditions do not reduce proliferation and increase apoptosis in homozygous ES cells as in wild-type ES cells (J:76427).
