Founder 6 carries approximately 40 copies of the transgene as determined by Southern blot analysis. Northern blot analysis confirmed expression of the transgene in liver and spleen tissues. ELIZA assays performed on homozygous cadmium-treated transgenic animals estimated the expression of the transgene to be at least 1,600-fold that of control animals.
