Mutation detailsA 1.5 kb region of the gene containing exon 2 was replaced with a PGK-neo cassette via homologous recombination. Exon 2 encodes the translation start site and the entire octapeptide region of the protein. Absence of gene expression was confirmed in homozygous mutant animals by Northern blot analysis of liver tissue. Furthermore, no plasma angiotensinogen could be detected in homozygous mutant animals.
