Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit slower weight gain, hyperleptinemia, increased oxygen consumption, decreased respiratory quotient, decreased liver triglyceride level and ameliorated hyperlipidemia and hepatosteatosis when fed a high-fat diet.
