Mutation details: The rat insulin 2 promoter drives expression of a cDNA fragment encoding human complement component (3d/Epstein Barr virus) receptor 2 (CR2) flanked, upstream, by the 3' end of the second exon, the second intron and part of the third exon of the rabbit hemoglobin beta gene and, downstream, by the remaider of the third exon, the polyadenylation signal and the 5' untranslated region of the rabbit gene. Notes
RNase protection analysis revealed expression of transgenic mRNA in the pancreas and the testis and at lower levels in the spleen, lung, heart, intestine and kidney. Immunohistologic and ligand-binding studies demonstrated expression and function of human CR2 in pancreatic islets and on Leydig cells of the testis and appropriate translocation of the protein to the beta-cell membrane.
