Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(KRT5-Erbb2)1Jdg expresses 1 gene

Tg(KRT5-Erbb2)1Jdg expression driven by 1 gene

Mutation detailsA rat Erbb2 cDNA under regulatory control of the bovine keratin 5 promoter was used for the transgene. A rabbit beta-globin intron and SV40 polyadenylation sequence was also included in the construct. Transgene expression in basal epidermal cells was confirmed by immunofluorescence of dorsal skin and skin tumor sections. (J:64524)

Notes
Three transgenic founder lines were established. Transgenic line BK5.erbB2A displayed the highest level of transgene expression and was used for all experiments. By 6 months of age, 10% of hemizygous BK5.erbB2A animals and 90% of homozygous BK5.erbB2A animals developed spontaneous papillomas.
