Mutation details: The transgene contains a BAC in which the Ascl1 open reading frame is replaced with a cre-estrogen response element fusion. Expression of cre, detected following a cross to a reporter strain, is restricted to the midbrain at E10.5, the developing sympathetic neurons at E10.5 and E11.5, the enteric nervous system, diencephalon and hindbrain at E11.5, and the dorsal neural tube at E12.5 reflecting the endogenous expression pattern of the gene. Two lines were established (B2C-6 and B2C-8). B2C-6 was analyzed in more detail and is represented by line 1 here.
