Mutation details: A 7 kb fragment of genomic DNA containing 4 kb of upstream sequence and 3 kb downstream of the ATG site of the Musahi 1 (Msi1) gene promoter was used drive the cre recombinase sequence in a transgenic construct. Transgenic mice were produced in a C57BL/6 x CBA hybrid background. in crosses to reporter animals, mice demonstrate cre activity in tissues such as brain, skin, lung and more specifically in the bottom of intestinal crypts.
