Mutation details: The 1 kb Ednrb enhancer (from -1.2 kb to -160 bp upstream of start site) was combined with the Hspa1b (Hsp68) minimal promoter to drive expression of codon-improved cre recombinase (icre). Transgenic mice were generated by standard microinjection techniques. Founder information or line number was not available. Recombination specificity was verified by crossing this line to ROSA26-lacz reporter mice. Beta-galactosidase staining was first detected in the developing gastrointestinal (GI) tract at E11.0. At E11.5, recombination was observed in enteric neural-crest progenitors in the GI tract along the length from esophagus to cecum and in the neural tube, but not in other neural crest derivatives (heart, skin, cranial or dorsal ganglia>)
