description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inducible, Recombinase)
Inducer:    tamoxifen
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(Tyrp1-cre/ERT2)1Mtz expression driven by 1 gene

Mutation detailsA 4.4 kb DNA fragment encompassing the Tyrp1 promoter region was cloned into a vector containing the cre/ERT2 sequence. The resulting 7.3 kb construct was purified for microinjection into oocytes and 4 founder lines were generated. Animals from these lines were crossed to mice carrying floxed alleles. Double transgenic offspring were treated with tamoxifen and recombination activity was assessed. One line demonstrated recombination in the pigmented retinal epithelium, but no activity in non-ocular tissues. This line was examined in greater detail. (J:189533)
