Mutation details: The transgene consists of a bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) of 93 kb (bMQ-258 k08) containing the complete Relb locus with 45 kb of upstream region was modified by introducing the gene coding for a Cre recombinase and Katushka, both linked by a self-cleaving P2A peptide into the first exon of the Relb gene just downstream of the translation initiation codon. Katushka (TurboFP635) is a far-red mutant of the red fluorescent protein from sea anemone Entacmaea quadricolor. Four founder mice were obtained, which transmitted the transgene to the progeny. In one of these founder lines (#53) transgene expression reflected that of endogenous Relb which was used for further study.
