Reference: J:62806 Gad JM, et al., The spatial and temporal expression patterns of netrin receptors, DCC and neogenin, in the developing mouse retina. Exp Eye Res. 2000 Jun;70(6):711-22
Assay type: RNA in situ
MGI Accession ID: MGI:7647248
Gene symbol: Dcc
Gene name: DCC netrin 1 receptor
Probe: MB18
Probe preparation: Antisense labelled with P33 RNA
Visualized with: Phosphorimaging
Results
Specimen 1A/B: embryonic day 11.5 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS19: eye Absent 1A/B

Specimen 1C/D: embryonic day 12.5 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS20: neural retina Strong Regionally restricted 1C/D Expression was detected in the central region of the neural retina. Within the central retina, the most intense DCC expression was localized to the emerging inner nuclear layer. Weaker expression was seen in patches at the outer edge of the outer nuclear layer. No label was seen in the peripheral regions.

Specimen 2B: embryonic day 13.5 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS21: neural retina Present Regionally restricted 2B , 2C , 2D Bright chains of closely opposed expressing cells were observed extending from the outer surface of the outer nuclear layer through to the expanding inner nuclear layer in the central region of the retina. The domain of high DCC mRNA expression in the inner nuclear layer had expanded towards the periphery in a decreasing gradient. The region of expression was more extensive in the temporal side of the developing retina compared to the nasal region.
TS21: lens Absent 2B
TS21: pigmented retinal epithelium Absent 2B
TS21: eyelid Present 2B

Specimen 3A/B: embryonic day 15.5 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS23: retina nuclear layer Present Regionally restricted 3A/B The intense expression domain above the outer nuclear layer expanded towards the periphery. In the most peripheral regions, chains of strongly expressing cells were situated directly below the region of accumulating postmitotic neurons.

Specimen 3C/D: embryonic day 16.5 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS24: neural retina Present Regionally restricted 3C/D , 3E/F , 3G/H The intense expression domain above the outer nuclear layer expanded towards the periphery. In the most peripheral regions, chains of strongly expressing cells were situated directly below the region of accumulating postmitotic neurons. Within the E16.5 central retina, where differentiation was more advanced, the positive chains had disappeared.
TS24: retina ganglion cell layer Present Regionally restricted 3C/D , 3E/F Two distinct layers of DCC mRNA expressing E16.5 cells were observed in the central retina. The first in the retinal ganglion cell layer and presumptive amacrine cell layer.
TS24: retina inner nuclear layer Present Regionally restricted 3C/D , 3E/F Two distinct layers of DCC mRNA expressing E16.5 cells were observed in the central retina. The first in the retinal ganglion cell layer and presumptive amacrine cell layer.
TS24: retina outer nuclear layer Present Regionally restricted 3E/F , 3C/D Two distinct layers of DCC mRNA expressing E16.5 cells were observed in the central retina. The second in the outer region of the outer nuclear layer.

Specimen 4A/B: embryonic day 18.5 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS26: retina ganglion cell layer Strong 4A/B , 4C/D
TS26: retina inner nuclear layer Present Regionally restricted 4C/D , 4A/B Expression was detected in the amacrine and horizontal cell layers.
TS26: retina outer nuclear layer Present Regionally restricted 4C/D , 4A/B Expression was detected in the amacrine and horizontal cell layers.
