Homozygous inactivation of this gene causes hypotension and hyperreninemia, alters drinking behavior and vascular and hemodynamic responses to angiotensin II, and may lead to abnormal physiological response to xenobiotics, abnormal kidney morphology, andreduced cell numbers in specific brain areas.
