description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(Prnp)e19hCwe expresses 1 gene

Mutation detailsTo define the requirements of the prion protein for conferring susceptibility to scrapie, deletion mutants of the mouse Prnp gene were constructed and used to generate transgenic mice on a background homozygous for a targeted mutation of the endogenous Prnp gene. In this transgenic line, the sequence encoding two of the five copies of the octa repeat (amino acids 68-83) was deleted, in addition to the larger of the two introns. (J:32214)

Notes
Two founder lines were generated, E19h and E19l. Both lines were capable of restoring susceptibility to scrabies in Prnp nul mutants
