This line was derived from one of three transgenic founder mice. Founder 2, a female, had two litters of which all the pups died within a day of birth. Founder 5.2, a male, sired 48 progeny, none of which carried the transgene. Only Founder 5.1, whose sex was not stated, generated viable transgenic offspring.
