Mutation details: The transgene consists of a 9-kb mouse genomic DNA fragment encompassing the coding region of the zinc finger protein of the cerebellum (Zic1) gene and 2.9 kb of 5' flanking DNA containing the proximal promoter and dorsal spinal cord enhancer, with a termination linker inserted 475 bp downstream of the initiation codon to terminate translation prematurely within the N -terminal region of the protein and with an IRES-lacZ cassette inserted into the gene's 3'-untranslated region.
