Mutation details: The transgene consists of a 1600 bp DNA fragment containing the promoter of the mouse whey acidic protein gene joined to nucleotides 1372-1822 of the hepatitis B virus (subtype group ayw) genome, encoding the HBV-x protein, followed by a DNA fragment encoding the FLAG epitope tag (DYKDDDDF). Expression of the transgene is detected by northern and western blot analysis and is demonstrated by RT-PCR analysis to correspond to that of the endogenous whey acidic protein gene during pregnancy, lactation and post-lactation involution of the mammary epithelial tissue.
