homeostasis/metabolism
N
• normal skin barrier function after exposure to house dust mites (HDMs)

hematopoietic system
• homozygotes display a slight but significant (3.5%) increase in red blood cell count relative to wild-type mice
• however, no changes are detected in red cell distribution width, and mutant erythrocyte life spans remain relatively unaffected as determined after biotinylation in vivo
• homozygotes show a slight but significant (6.0 %) increase in hematocrit levels relative to wild-type mice
• homozygotes show a slight but significant (3.8%) increase in hemoglobin content relative to wild-type mice
• homozygotes show a slight but significant (1.8%) decrease in mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration relative to wild-type mice
• homozygotes show only a slight (2.4%) increase in mean corpuscular volume relative to wild-type mice
• increased neutrophil infiltration in skin 6 days after exposure to house dust mites (HDMs)
• homozygotes show a 13.2% increase in platelet cell number relative to wild-type mice

integument
N
• normal skin barrier function after exposure to house dust mites (HDMs)
• hypersensitivity to house dust mite (HDM)-induced skin inflammation (erythema, dryness, increased epidermal thickness)

immune system
N
• homozygotes exhibit a normal thymus as well as normal macrophage function and T- and B-cell development relative to control mice (J:78035)
• in addition, homozygotes show a normal cytotoxic T-cell response to major histocompatibility-disparate P815 tumor cells, with no differences in cytolytic activity, CD8 T cell expansion, and proportion of apoptotic (annexin V+) CD8 T cells relative to wild-type control mice (J:78035)
• normal serum IgE and IgG2c levels after exposure to house dust mites (HDMs) (J:283174)
• increased neutrophil infiltration in skin 6 days after exposure to house dust mites (HDMs)
• hypersensitivity to house dust mite (HDM)-induced skin inflammation (erythema, dryness, increased epidermal thickness)
