immune system
• the overall number of double negative T cells is unchanged, however the fraction of pro-T3 cells is increased and the fraction of pro-T4 cells only slightly decreased suggesting a partial block in the double negative to double positive transition
• there is a 6 fold increase in the fraction of CD8+ cells that behave as memory T cells
• in the thymus the number of single positive T cells is decreased and the ratio of CD4+ to CD8+ is skewed with a relative increase in CD8+ cells
• the total number of thymocytes is significantly decreased in 8 - 10 week old mutants
• there is a 6 fold increase in the fraction of CD4+ cells that behave as activated T cells
• the number of CD4+ T cells in the spleen and lymph nodes is decreased to a greater extent than the number of CD8+ T cells at 8 - 10 weeks of age
• there is a 6 fold increase in the fraction of cells that behave as activated T cells
• proliferation and apoptosis are increased in peripheral CD4+ T cells but not in CD8+ T cells
