embryo
• at E9.5 a single branchial arch is present unlike wild-type mice which have 3 arches; however, specification and migration of neural crest cells is normal
• selective cell death occurs in the mesenchyme cells at the site where the 2nd and 3rd arches normally emerge
• however, in the limb bud patterning of the zone of polarizing activity and the apical ectodermal ridge is normal and the otic vesicle forms normally
• selective cell death occurs in the mesenchyme cells at the site where the 2nd and 3rd arches normally emerge
• seen at E9.5
• at E9.5, the labyrinthine region fails to expand correctly reducing the volume of blood spaces

reproductive system
• at the headfold stage (E7.75) 2-4 or no primordial germs cells are detected and at E9.0-9.5, no primordial germ cells are detected

cardiovascular system
• hemorrhaging with blood pooling in dorsal aorta is observed at E10.5
• at E10.5, severe hemorrhaging is seen with blood pooling in the heart, dorsal aorta and under the surface ectoderm, but at E9.5 development of the heart and blood vessels appears normal

muscle
• at E10.5, the Fgf8 domain in the epaxial dermomyotomal lip is expanded

growth/size/body
• selective cell death occurs in the mesenchyme cells at the site where the 2nd and 3rd arches normally emerge
• seen at E9.5
