N
• mice do not display spontaneous or handling -induced seizures
• in response to injection of 2 mg/kg of nicotine, mice display three distinct stereotypic behaviors (saccadic behavior, forelimb dystonia, Straub tail) collectively termed DAC
• Background Sensitivity: compared to mice on a mixed 129S1/Sv and CD1 background forelimb dystonia is less severe, manifesting as forelimb suppination with clenched fists and rhythmic forelimb retraction
• Background Sensitivity: compared to mice on a mixed 129S1/Sv and CD1 background saccadic behavior is significantly reduced
• the DAC response is not associated with epileptiform changes on electroencephalograms
• mice display less severe nicotine induced seizures compared to wild-type mice
