immune system
• double negative 3 thymocytes exhibit a 1.5-fold increase in proliferation (20.1% proliferation compared to 12.7% proliferation in wild-type mice)
• double negative T cell proliferation in response to IL-7 is increased 3- to 4-fold compared to in wild-type mice
• double negative 3 thymocytes exhibit hyperproliferation in response to IL-7 compared to wild-type cells
• thymus cellularity is decreased 20-fold (6.7+/-3.1x106 cells compared to 134.4+/-33.4x106 cells in wild-type thymus)
• T cell differentiation is blocked at the double negative stage
• double negative cells make up 95% of total thymus cells compared to only 3% in wild-type mice
• the number of double negative T cells is increased 50% compared to in wild-type mice despite hypocellularity
• gamma delta T cells are reduced 2- to 4-fold compared to in wild-type mice
• mice exhibit less than 1% of the double positive T cells found in wild-type mice
