homeostasis/metabolism
N
• mice exhibit normal glucose tolerance
• after glucose administration in acidified isolated islets
• after glucose administration and treatment with carbachol but not vasopressin (AVP) or exendin-4 (Ex-4)
• after glucose administration and treatment with KCl or tolbutamide (TLB) but not PMA, forskolin or dimethyamiloride (DMA)
• after glucose stimulation and treatment with YM-254890 that is more severe in acidified islets
• however, islets stimulated with glucose or KCL exhibit normal insulin secretion when also treated with YM-254890 or 2-APB
• small decrease after insulin administration
• prior to glucose administration
• in fed mice and after glucose administration due to increased insulin clearance rate

immune system
N
• an acidic extracellular environment inhibits LPS-induced TNF secretion by macrophages in a manner similar to wild-type controls

endocrine/exocrine glands
N
• mice exhibit normal pancreatic islet morphology and physiology
• mice exhibit normal glucose tolerance
• after glucose administration in acidified isolated islets
• after glucose administration and treatment with carbachol but not vasopressin (AVP) or exendin-4 (Ex-4)
• after glucose administration and treatment with KCl or tolbutamide (TLB) but not PMA, forskolin or dimethyamiloride (DMA)
• after glucose stimulation and treatment with YM-254890 that is more severe in acidified islets
