immune system
N
• mice show normal numbers of cells in the thymus, spleen, and bone marrow and normal levels of dendritic cells and plasmacytoid dendritic cells
• mice produce less IFN-alpha during herpes simplex virus I infection than wild-type mice, however IL-6 production was similar to wild-type; both wild-type and mutant mice do not show signs of sickness during infection, indicating ability to clear the virus
• plasmacytoid dendritic cells stimulated with cytosine guanine dinucleotide or with influenza virus, vesicular stomatitis virus or herpes simplex virus I produce less IFN-alpha than wild-type plasmacytoid dendritic cells
• plasmacytoid dendritic cells stimulated with cytosine guanine dinucleotide or with influenza virus, vesicular stomatitis virus or herpes simplex virus produce less IFN-alpha than wild-type plasmacytoid dendritic cells
• production of IL-6 and TNF-alpha in response to stimulation with cytosine guanine dinucleotide are normal

homeostasis/metabolism
• mice produce less IFN-alpha during herpes simplex virus I infection than wild-type mice, however IL-6 production was similar to wild-type; both wild-type and mutant mice do not show signs of sickness during infection, indicating ability to clear the virus
