Trmt5^em1(IMPC)Bay/Trmt5^em1(IMPC)Bay mice exhibit embryonic lethality, with embryos recovered at E3.5 as blastocysts but not at E7.5. Blastocysts hatch from the zona pellucida and form normal outgrowths.

• blastocysts are recovered at E3.5 (12% versus expected 25%, n=34); no homozygous embryos are recovered at E7.5 but excess resorption sites suggest that embryos elicit a decidual response in vivo

• in vitro, blastocysts hatch from the zona pellucida and form normal outgrowths after 3 days in culture
