Inbr (Le) 59. Agouti:+. Origin: Ichthyosis (ic) gene reported by Carter and Philips in 1950, to Snell 1950, to M.C.Green 1970 to Lane 1975. Heterogenious stock crossed once to CBA followed by b x s. A +/+ line was separated at F22. Homozygous ic/ic mice show abnormal clumping of chromatin in nuclei, with about 10% more DNA than in +/+ mice. Useful as cell marker. Maint. by Le.
