Inbr (Y) 36. Black spotted: a,W^y/+. Origin: Developed by selection for dilution of pigmentation of a/a, W^y/+ mice and a high incidence of somatic reversion of W^y to + in a cross of 129 and 129xC57BL/6-W^y/+. Inbred since 1975. Anaemic W^y/W^y die at birth. W^y/+ mice have light coat colour, 25% with black spots. Maint. by Y.
