Colour: Albino.
Genet. c.
Origin: From Crj: Wistar rats purchased from Charles River Japan in July 1985. Developed by A. Noda, Tokyo University of Agriculture, Hokkaido, from a cross of mutant rats with spontaneous tonic-clonic seizures (Noda et al. 1998). Susceptible to seizures induced by pentylenetetrazol, tossing and transcorneal electric shock, but not tactile, photic or acoustic stimuli or transauricular electric shock. No pathologic changes have been found in the CNS. The condition appears to be inherited as an autosomal recessive gene and is comparable to generalised tonic-clonic seizures in humans. Maintained by Has.
