Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit partial early postnatal lethality, respiration and feeding problems, hyporesponsiveness to tactile stimuli, and decreased synaptic vesicle number; surviving mice show a reduced growth rate, alterations in behavioral tests, and premature death.
