Homozygotes for a gene trap allele exhibit altered brain development, seizures, and postnatal death. Homozygotes for a null allele are protected from diet-induced obesity and hepatic insulin resistance. Homozygotes for another null allele show microcytic anemia and extramedullary hematopoiesis.
