Homozygous mutation of this gene results in decreased exploratory behavior, hypoactivity, and a delay in the acquisition of conditioned avoidance behavior. A hypomorphic allele results in increased social behavior. Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit resistance to diet-induced obesity.
