Mice homozygous for a null allele show embryonic lethality, severe growth retardation, reduced neuron proliferation, increased neuron apoptosis, impaired neuron differentiation, small hearts, abnormal cardiac looping and, in some cases, incomplete embryonic turning and neural tube closure defects.
