Embryos homozygous for a gene trapped allele show decreased size, massive apoptosis and complete embryonic lethality during organogenesis. Heterozygotes exhibit progressive neurological defects, altered brain structure, neuron loss, impaired mitochondrial structure and function, oxidative stress, and metabolic alterations.
