Mice homozygous for a deletion of the six exons encoding the muscle-specific isoform, exclusively express the fetal predominant isoform in adult skeletal muscle and show decreased grip strength, muscle weakness, deficits in skeletal muscle force generation, and defects in calcium-handling during myofiber stimulation.
