Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit a reduction of B cell numbers in secondary lymphoid organs. Follicular B cells show membrane CD23 overexpression. Homozygous KO also leads to a thinner spleen marginal zone B cell region and a decreased thymic CD8+ T cell percentage.
