Homozygotes for a null allele show alterations in innate immunity against different viruses, viral pathogenesis, anxiety, hippocampal synaptic plasticity, memory retention and neurogenesis. Homozygotes for another null allele show altered ds-RNA responses in dendritic and aorta smooth muscle cells.
