Homozygous null mice display embryonic lethality before E8. Inducible endothelial cell-specific homozygous knockout affects glycolysis in muscle ECs, reducing their proliferation rate and their macrophage signaling, which in turn impairs revascularization and thus muscle regeneration after ischemic injury.
