Targeted deletion of this gene causes faster chemical carcinogen-induced skin cell proliferation, higher epidermal thickness, increased number and size of skin papillomas, shorter tumor latency and delayed tumor regression. Heterozygotes develop tumors earlier and more frequently than control mice.
