Homozygous mutation of this gene results in smaller pyramidal neuron dendritic spines, smaller and thinner postsynaptic density of central excitatory synapses, weaker synaptic transmission, increased anxiety-related behavior, and impaired contextual fearmemory, but enhanced spatial learning.
