Homozygous mutant animals are anemic, infertile, and have reduced body size. Mutant animals also exhibit jaundice, bone marrow hyperplasia, splenomegaly, hepatomegaly, enlarged lymph nodes, increased white blood cell count, and cardiac hypertrophy.
