Ir3 controls B-cell mediated ability to make antibody to Pro-L determinants of synthetic peptides. Strain SWR has the a allele (responsive) and DBA/1 the b allele (non-responsiveness). However, phenotypically SWR is non-responsive due to its non-responsive allele at Ir1 that blocks T-cell function.
