This co-dominant locus controls ability to make antibody to the H-2.2 antigenic determinant of the H2-Db allele. The b allele (non-responsive) is seen in HTI/Go, B10.A and C57BL; the a allele (responsive) in BALB/c and A/J. Alleles at Ir1 also affect ability to respond to H-2.2 antigen.
