Strains respond differently to Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) infection. For intraperitoneal inoculation, C3H/He mice show high infection and mortality rates; C57BL/6, RR, NC and KK mice show high infection and low mortality. AA, BALB/c and ddY mice show low infection and no mortality.
