This locus controls expression of group-specific antigen of type C RNA tumor virus. The a allele determines antigen presence on spleen cells in DBA/2J and B10.D2(58N); the dominant b allele determines absence in C57BL/10Sn and B10.129(21M). Thus the b allele inhibits expression of viral antigen.
